BLACK MARKET WINE CO. Collusion

Two illustrious varietals, competitors on their own, but better together. Trust us.

Tasting Notes

A crisp, medium-bodied wine with a creaminess to the texture. Citrus notes of lemon and lime, gooseberry and ruby-red grapefruit with a bit of caramel on the finish. Beautifully balanced with a clean finish.

Winemaking Notes

A classic white Bordeaux blend, but this is pure Okanagan in style! Both varietals were fermented separately in stainless steel. All of the Semillon and a small portion of the Sauvignon Blanc was then aged 6 months in barrel: a combination of 2nd fill French oak and almost neutral American oak.

These two varietals (along with lesser known Muscadelle) are the classic white wine grapes of Bordeaux. Perhaps one of the most overlooked categories of white wine, White Bordeaux remains heavily overshadowed by its red counterpart. When young, tasters enjoy pronounced sensations of flowers, citrus, vanilla, lemon, crushed rocks, grapefruit and lime. As white Bordeaux wine ages, the color deepens and the wine takes on additional characteristics of freshly cut lawn grass, honey, minerality, spice and butterscotch.

Region Notes

The Okanagan Falls area is famed for some of Canada’s top wine production with the highest quality wines in the valley. This region of the South Okanagan is a unique climatic zone know as a semi-arid steppe, the final stage of a desert area that extends up from the United States. Along with that comes long warm days and cool nights that retain the acidity in the grapes and helps shape their distinctive character and flavours.
