HEUCQ PERE & FILS Extra Brut Tradition
A Blanc de Noirs with golden pink hues. Floral aromas of apple, pear and quince. Explosion of minerality, freshness with lasting effervescence, creamy-rich, with a supple and round clean finish.
Meunier takes its name from the bottom of its leaves which are white as if coated with flour (meunier is French for 'Miller'). Best known as one of the three main varieties used in the production of Champagne (the other two are the black variety Pinot noir and the white Chardonnay). Until recently, producers in Champagne generally did not acknowledge Pinot Meunier, preferring to emphasise the use of the other noble varieties, but now Pinot Meunier is gaining recognition for the body and richness it contributes to Champagne. Pinot Meunier is approximately one-third of all the grapes planted in Champagne.

Region & Vineyard Notes
The vineyards are in the village of Cuisles, in the heart of Vallée de la Marne. Their unique green clay Illite soils are rich in nutrients and needs less water than the typical chalky clay of the region. Thanks to this unusual combination of soil and micro-climate, Meunier wines from Cuisles can truly be said to be ‘champagnes de terroir’. They have a mineral quality that is rare in other Meunier wines and, contrary to what is sometimes said about Meunier, they have good aging potential.
