Intense ruby red colour with purple nuances, cherry, raspberry and vanilla notes. Elegant and silky tannins with a good persistence and a sapid finish. 

 Chianti Classico DOCG

At 300-plus years, Chianti is the oldest designated wine region in Italy. The area now known as “Chianti Classico” was determined in 1716 by Cosimo III de’ Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, who established the first official boundaries of the Chianti region in what is today part of the Chianti Classico DOCG. Classico wine has to respect specific rules. Chianti Classico may be blended with other native and international varietals, but it must contain at least 80 percent Sangiovese, and white grape varietals are not allowed. Riserva wines must be aged for a minimum of 24 months.

Vineyard Notes

The winery extends along the eastern hillside of Castelnuovo Berardenga, near Siena, over a surface of about 110 hectares divided into 12 areas and planted with 7 different grape varieties. The vineyards, distributed on the hilly territories to the left of the river Arbia, have been carefully selected according to the composition of the soils. There are two main soil types in the area: a weathered sandstone known as alberese and a bluish-gray chalky marlstone known as galestro. The soil in the south around Pievasciata gradually becomes harder and stonier with more albarese.
