Tasting Notes
Let's go rambling for wild berries, red flowers and lavender! Perfumed, juicy, and coated with dusty tannins and a mineral character associated with the stony plains it is from. The wine shows dark plum, raspberry, warm spice and roasted nut aromas on the nose, followed by an elegantly weighted palate that's juicy and smooth. It's well balanced and appealing with youthful fruit flavours.
Winemaking
It is all about the retention of primary fruit characters: Starting by the choice of clone (led by the Dijon Clones with 65% of the mix - lighter footed - and fruitier). Aged in stainless steel tanks on fine lees and oak staves (5% new barrel equivalent).

Region & Vineyard Notes
Nestled between the Wai-iti and Wairoa rivers in Brightwater, Nelson, the vines thrive in free draining alluvial soils of gravel and sandy loam. Nelson is NZ’s dark horse wine region and the hot value tip for the next decade for anyone who likes wine from Marlborough. As Lisa Perotti-Brown, the new face of Wine Advocate, tweeted: “Tho located in the shadow of Marlborough, the wines r anything but!”. Nelson is Marlborough’s small neighbour with only a couple of dozen wineries, situated on the North-west tip of the South Island the region consistently wins more awards than any other NZ wine region per hectare of vines planted.
