PIERRE DE SEGONZAC Cognac XO Reserve

Tasting Notes

Deep copper colour with an attractive round and spicy nose. A skilled entry leads to a very smooth, sweetish medium-to full-bodied texture with nice honey, marzipan, and black tea-like flavours that envelope the mouth. Finishes with a long and tasty fruit and oak driven fade. A very nice, easy-to-approach XO.

Cognac is a type of brandy, (a.k.a. eau-de-vie), made by double distilling white wine grapes. The brandy must be from one of the designated growing areas (crus) to be called Cognac. Once distillation is complete, it must be aged in Limousin oak casks for at least two years before it can be sold to the public. The grape used in the making of the Pierre de Segonzac Grand Champagne Cognac is 100% Ugni Blanc, exclusively from the family property located in Segonzac. They utilise sustainable farming techniques in the vineyard andhave two traditional copper stills to obtain their eau-de-vie.
X.O. stands for 'extra old' and designates a blend in which the youngest brandy is stored for at least 6 years - this particular one is aged 15 years.
