CHATEAU LES PALAIS 6 Petits Gars

Languedoc, France

Located in Corbières, near the village of Sainte-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, the estate has been in the family since 1820, and is currently run by Anne and Xavier de Volontat. The cellar is in an old convent chapel, surrounded by over 100 hectares of vines. The wine name, “6 Petits Gars” roughly translates to 6 Little Guys, hence the label illustration, representing youth, freshness and the pleasure of sharing and being together. This wine is an extract of youth.

Region & Vineyard Notes

Traditionally known for its good-value rustic red blends, the Corbières region is forging a new reputation for quality and great terroirs. The vineyards for Chateau Les Palais are in the foothills of the Pyranees. The landscape around these communities – sitting at an average altitude of 100m – is rocky, hilly and covered by garrigue. Garrigue is the quintessential Provencal landscape, consisting of dry, limestone-based scrubland populated by hardy herbs such as rosemary and lavender. These alluvial soils are relatively poor in nutrition and provide excellent drainage – two qualities which contribute significantly to the production of high-quality wine.
