Tasting Notes

Ruby red colour with a remarkable luminosity. Fruity on the nose, with hints of small red and black fruits, such as cherry and berries, but also violet and sweet spices. Quite fresh on the palate with a remarkable fruity streak and well-balanced tannins.

Chianti Classico DOCG

At 300-plus years, Chianti is the oldest designated wine region in Italy. The area now known as “Chianti Classico” was determined in 1716 by Cosimo III de’ Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, who established the first official boundaries of the Chianti region in what is today part of the Chianti Classico DOCG. Classico wine has to respect specific rules. Chianti Classico may be blended with other native and international varietals, but it must contain at least 80 percent Sangiovese, and white grape varietals are not allowed. Riserva wines must be aged for a minimum of 24 months.

Vineyard Notes

San Casciano in Val di Pesa terroir belongs to the production area of DOCG Chianti Classico wine, which is the northern area of the denomination. The area is hilly, with vineyards and olive groves located between 250 and 350 meters above sea level.

The soils are mainly clay with limestone and sand, while the soil is rich in the skeleton with the presence of round pebbles of river origin and galestro and alberese stones.
The cool climate guarantees a good temperature range between day and night, with cold but not frigid winters, and hot but not torrid summers.

Technical Notes

Production Area: San Casciano in Val di Pesa
Vinification: Fermentation at controlled temperature not exceeding 27°. Maceration process in stainless steel tanks for about 14 days.
Aging: 12 months in 35 hL Slavonian oak casks and long ageing in bottle
