CHAYEE BOURRAS  Encanto

Tasting Notes

Aromas of cherry liqueur, raspberry jam and blackberry sauce. The careful use of oak in its aging process brings subtle notes of white chocolate, cinnamon and a hint of carob cake. Round ripe tannins, medium acidity balanced with a finish of black cherry, brown sugar, and chocolate.

Winemaking Notes

This is a wine that everyone can enjoy, inspired by Amarone, with a unique Argentinian twist, created to showcase the extraordinary terroir of Cuadro Benegas.

The late harvest grapes are left hanging on the vine to dry in the sun for almost 4 months, removing the leaves so they get maximum exposure. The climate of the vineyard is such that they don’t get extreme heat, thanks to their altitude, and are able to age with elegance, developing flavours that are super-concentrated and complex, while still retaining a balancing freshness.

Region & Vineyard Notes

Cuadro Benegas is located on a mountainous elevation near the town of San Rafael in the heart of Mendoza. The vineyards are planted in sandy loam soil, in the foothills of Sierra Pintada, 800 meters above sea level. Irrigated by the famous river Diamante, the vineyards are exposed to harsh weather, extreme temperatures, snowfalls, high thermal fluctuations in summer -- all ideal conditions for the cultivation of vines as they provide the wine of the region with a particular style.

Technical Notes

Age of Vines: 50 years
Soil: sandy loam
Altitude: 800 m

Winemaking:

The vines are defoliated 20 centimeters from the bunch 10 days after veraison to give us the highest sun exposure during the maturation process and to allow for a slow drying, Amarone style, to concentrate the juices. The grapes never lose their photosynthesis, which helps develop new flavours while the colour and tannins are still growing.

35% of the wine is oak aged for 12 months in 70% french and 30% American oak
