Meravia   \may RAH vee ya\

Mero and mera are adjectives that indicate something pure, straightforward.
From the Latin Méru (m) or "not mixed with other substances", the expression was often used by the Romans to indicate "sincere" "pure" wine not flavored with honey, water and various resins.

The name Meravia therefore equates figuratively to indicate the road that leads to good, authentic wine; and in addition the name has an affective meaning: the Aglianico vineyard (owned by the family) is near an unnamed road which in dialectal jargon is referred to as "cheravia" or "simply that street"; finally the assonance of the name with "wonder" is pleasant.

Region Notes

One of Italy's oldest wine-growing regions, Campania dates back to the ancient Greek and Roman empires and is home to an impressive array of indigenous grape varieties, many of which are not grown anywhere else on earth. The rich volcanic soil combined with a hot Mediterranean climate make for wines of excellent character.

The grapes are grown on vineyards from the Irpinia’s municipalities of Mirabella Eclano, Castelfranci and Montemarano.
