Votiva Story

A Votiva is an offering to the gods. The figurine depicted on the bottles of Votiva are inspired by similar objects found in the heart of Irpinia where the ancients worshipped the Goddess Mefite and made offerings to appease her. The Votiva line of wines from the Danimi cellar are their cru offering; a vow of love towards the land that the Urciuolo family has tended and handed down for generations. They represent the strength of the Irpinian territory and identity.

Campania, Italy

Fiano \fee YAH noe\

The most well known white grapes indigenous to Campania with ancient origins, noted for its elegant and intense fragrance. On the edge of extinction several decades ago, this varietal has been making a glorious comeback. Often planted around hazelnut plantations in Avellino it possesses a delicious nutty quality

Greco di Tufo   \GREH ko dee TOO fo\

Greco grapes from around the town of Tufo make the region's most prestigious white wine, and one of the very few white DOCG wines in Southern Italy. Cultivated since Roman times in Campania, the chalky soil of this volcanic region is evident in the wine, which combines a beautiful structure with pleasant mineral notes and a perfumed bouquet.

Falanghina \fah lahn GHEE nah\

Another ancient varietal grown almost exclusively in the Campania region, the vines thrive in the porous volcanic soils around Mount Vesuvius and the warm Mediterranean climate. Falanghina wines are well structured, full-bodied and memorable thanks to the distinct and aromatic nose resembling orange peel and fresh kumquats.

Vineyard & Region Notes

Grown in Irpinia’s hills around Tufo and Santa Paolina for Greco grapes, Forino for Fiano grapes and Torella dei Lombardi for Falanghina grapes.

One of Italy's oldest wine-growing regions, Campania dates back to the ancient Greek and Roman empires and is home to an impressive array of indigenous grape varieties, many of which are not grown anywhere else on earth. The rich volcanic soil combined with a hot Mediterranean climate make for wines of excellent character.
