Tasting Notes

A complex mix of floral and fruity notes such as violets and wild red berries along with spicy notes that recall scent of tobacco and leather. The mouthfeel is full with velvety tannins. Intense and concentrated fruity and spicy flavours lingering on the palate with a persistent and long finish.

Dannami Story

Dannami translates to the damned. Perhaps Damnation is the pursuit of oenological perfection linked to the winemaker's hard work and efforts? In any case the symbol of the snake dates back to ancient Greek and Roman mythology. Feared and revered, in ancient times the snake was inextricably linked to the earth and was a symbol of fertility, at the same time as being feared for its poison and its mysterious ability to hypnotize its prey. Moreover, the snake is here connected to the symbol representing infinity, eternity, immortality and perfection.

Aglianico   \ahl ee YAH nee ko\

Sometimes referred to as “the Barolo of Southern Italy,” this ancient grape variety is known for being massively concentrated in flavour, with generous tannins. Noted for its chocolate and red fruit aromas, an Aglianico will outlive many of the wines in your cellar.

Primitivo   /pree mee TEE voh/

An ancient varietal that can trace its roots back to the ancient Phoenicians and came to Puglia via Croatia -- it is rumoured to be the wine served at the Last Supper. Closely related to Zinfandel (though just how closely remains controversial), Primitivo, which translates roughly as "early one" is so named for its propensity to ripen before all other varietals.

Nero d'Avola   /NEH roh/  /DAH volah/

Nero d'Avola is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. Named after the town of Avola in southern Sicily, it is known for its superbly bold fruit-driven flavours that range from black cherry to prune. It is one of the full-bodied wines of the world in the same boldness as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah/Shiraz.

Vineyard & Region Notes

Aglianico from the Irpinia’s municipalities of Mirabella Eclano, Castelfranci and Montemarano, Primitivo from the vineyards of the province of Taranto and Brindisi, Nero d’Avola from the province of Syracuse and Agrigento.

Vitculture in the south of Italy dates back to the ancient Greek and Roman empires and it is home to an impressive array of indigenous grape varieties, many of which are not grown anywhere else on earth.
